MSc in Pathology and Bereavement
The National Bereavement Partnership have developed an MSc in Pathology and Bereavement Support with The Faculty of Health and Sciences at Staffordshire University.
In order to encourage all possible candidates, especially those working in related fields that may not have gained graduate status, we have taken a flexible entry programme so as not to exclude those with invaluable work experience and knowledge who would be well suited to such a course. However, all students will be assessed to ensure that they have the academic capacity to be able to complete the course.
This course will provide you wit the understanding, knowledge, skills and confidence in aspects of the legal and ethical framework and an understanding of bereavement and communicating with bereaved people. There is also the opportunity to think in broad terms about teaching, training and research on human tissue, and what benefit can be derived from this.
Through the process of critical enquiry you will be encouraged to review past and current practices alongside regulatory regimes, ethical and religious values and belief systems and to promote a person-centred practice with bereaved people. You will explore a range of current theoretical, conceptual and evidenced based perspectives and through this develop knowledge and skills that will enhance your impact and influence upon service delivery.
The development of this MSc has been supported by The Royal College of Pathologists, The Royal College of Nursing, the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists (UK), the Coroners Officers Association and the Bereavement Services Association and a number of individuals, without whom this award would not exist.
