Marriage Certificates

So what exactly do marriage certificates actually show you?  Aside from the obvious, there are a number of parts to this particular certificate, as follows.

In terms of personal details, for both the bride and the groom, marriage certificates will tell you their age, occupation, first name and last name.  Also included will be the occupation for both of them, their marital status at the time of marriage as well as the name and profession of their fathers.  The residence for both of them at the time of marriage is also shown in the bottom right corner of the certificate.

What else can you find on a marriage certificate?

In a more official capacity, marriage certificates are required to show the entry number that is in the marriage register, the signatures of two witnesses and also that of the Superintendent Registrar and also the name of the person who produced the certificate.

Whilst it would be best not to lose it in the first place, a marriage certificate can fortunately be replaced, although there is a set fee for the process.
